Multipurpose Sharing Stations: From niche innovation to mainstream urban service – October 15th

Comment section

Description:

Multipurpose sharing stations—modular, self-service lockers for everyday consumer goods—are changing how people access what they need. From power tools and household appliances to printers, electronics, leisure gear and sports equipment, these stations bring practical access close to where people live, work and study. Deployed in housing complexes, libraries, campuses, offices, supermarkets, shopping centres and community spaces, they offer a scalable pathway to circular consumption at neighbourhood and organisational level.

To accelerate this movement, the Access Economy Alliance hosts a focused webinar to learn from real deployments, compare operating models and explore concrete use cases with public, private and third-sector needs in mind. This session is ideal for municipalities, housing providers, real-estate owners, employers, retailers and community organisations aiming to deliver practical, affordable and sustainable access services.

Speakers:

  • Yann Lemoine, CEO & Founder, Les Biens en Commun

  • Ranjit Singh, Partnerships and Strategic Business Development, Library of Things

  • Anna C W De Matos, CEO & Founder, Circular Library Network

  • Tom Sharland, Head of Climate Change & SustainabilitySouthwark Council, City of London

  • Veronique D’Haeyer, Project Lead Circular Economy, City of Sint-Niklaas

We discussed:

  • Do they really work? Evidence on performance, adoption and whether sharing stations can genuinely scale the sharing economy.
  • How to start well? Where to deploy, how many stations to launch, which consumer goods to include, and how to involve residents and users through co-design, outreach, and ongoing engagement.
  • What model fits? Lessons on governance, maintenance, and integration with public amenities, workplaces, retail shops and housings – from operators already running stations.
